Blue Orchid Empowerment
Symbolism
I chose this name for my photography in boudoir and body positivity for many reasons, symbolism being one direction. The orchid's symbolism portrays an array of characteristics and possesses versatility. From confident to seductive, the orchid is both feminine and masculine. The ancient Greeks believed the flower to have properties virility, and while the shape of the flower appears very feminine, the Greeks felt the bulbs resembled the masculine anatomy. Aphrodite, goddess of love, was also associated with this flower. To ancient China, it held a curative value, as well as love and fertility to this culture and many others. True wild blue orchids are rare and mean honor, trust, spirituality, and loyalty. The color blue can be perceived as calming, inspiring, and intense. The colors tone and intensity can shift its meaning and perception of the viewer. The orchids symbolism for death can also be interpreted as an everlasting love for something or someone that is now no longer here. I would like to use this symbolism as one of self-growth and a challenge for an individual coming from from a place of transition, whether it be an insecurity or an identity, we have to find a love for some part of our old self in order to make room to acknowledge what makes us love ourselves and know that we are always worthy of love. It's putting a piece of our past to rest, because even in terms of death, the memory and the emotions never go away. Rather, things change, we grow, gain a sense of acceptance, and the result is a sense of transformation. This flower represents love, beauty, versatility, sexuality, vitality, uniqueness and more. Do you want to celebrate your divinity and uniqueness, be enlightened by honoring and enhancing your true beauty, enhance your self-love and acceptance, truly feel empowered with who you are and where you've come from? I would love to be a part of the celebration of you!
